NHTE 17 Bruce Barker

With 30 years in the radio business, this episode’s guest provides do’s & don’ts for up-and-coming artists (and even shares a marketing highlight), all while telling first-hand dealings with the likes of Rush, Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, Kiss, Garth Brooks, and even MLB and NHL players.

NHTE 16 RB Stone

He has performed in 32 countries, gets radio airplay, has released 16 albums, and is a veteran blues man who sings, songwrites, and plays guitar and harmonica. The conversation brings out some of his highlights as well as some lessons learned from being in the business and on the road so long.

NHTE 15 Recap Show

What qualifies this guy to host this podcast every week and speak to the music business? What are his credentials and who are all these guests that he has been talking to over the first 14 episodes? The Now Hear This president creates a teaching opportunity from this episode’s scheduled guest canceling at the last minute and also answers the questions posed in this paragraph and uses his insights and experience to give out several tips along the way. (NOTE: opening song is by Shawna P, closing song is by Lindsay McCaul)

NHTE 14 Liz Longley

Her music has been heard on two ABC-TV shows and another on the CW, as well as on SiriusXM. John Mayer called her music, “Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.” She has shared the stage with Paula Cole and Shawn Colvin, to name just two. She talks about all that, plus attending Berklee College of Music, moving to Nashville, the dramatic shift in her songwriting craft over the last month, and much more.

NHTE 12 Marc Alan Barnette

A writer of almost 3,000 songs, he is a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and, as a performer, opened for the likes of the Charlie Daniels Band, Tanya Tucker, Patty Loveless, and Restless Heart. A longtime Nashville resident, he has worked with Frankie Ballard – who just had a song go to #1 – as well as Steel Magnolia and The Kinleys. Great lessons for up-and-comers on this episode!

NHTE 11 Lindsay McCaul

Currently on tour with Brandon Heath and Mandisa, she has previously toured with Casting Crowns and Matthew West. Her song “Take My Hand” was featured in an episode of “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC. Her new album is close to being released. She talks about all this as well as how she was led to it from what line of work she thought she was supposed to go into.

NHTE 10 June McHugh

A highly insightful look at the music business, primarily from the standpoint of a publisher who had an office on Music Row in Nashville for many years and also used to perform. Her company had cuts with George Strait, Jason Aldean, Josh Thompson, and Randy Travis.

NHTE 8 Dominick Pages

Producer, performer, engineer, mentor, songwriter, and owner/operator of Crystal Blue Sound Studios near Tampa where the podcast is recorded every week. This interview digs deep into approach, preparation, mindset, and both the recording and performance environments.
